How do I lose face fat? Dose skincare help?
is there a specific way to lose weight in the face? Or get rid of face fat?
If you have a very round face, you might still look chubby even at 10%. On the other hand if you have a very chiseled, square face you could look great even at 18%. For most, 12-15% is where the face looks as good as their genetics will let the face look.
The best ways to lose face fat
Honestly if you drop a significant amount of body fat eventually it will come out, however similar to being able to train a muscle and help it grow to disperse Fat and make a certain part of your body look leaner same can be done with your face. I did air kisses, basically looking straight up and up and to the right and to your left and kiss the air stretching your jaw as far as possible to help develop your jaw line. It may take a while it may not get you the results your looking for but it can help as you lose bf%. Also you can chew gum regularly and while working out it can help develop your jawline. Just Take a fat stack of hard gum like the cheap hubba bubba shit and chew, or just chew on a piece of rubber all day. I used to be 250lbs ~25% bf and it started to show around 20% bf but I had lost around 50ish pounds. I think maybe the kisses and gum helped me.
And for skin care. Like bodybuilding it takes immense amount of research since everyone's skin is so different, however I've been using Curology it's a subscription box and you send pics of your face and answer a questionnaire to a licensed dermatologist and gives you a curated skin care routine (cleanser, moisturizer, and a specialized cream and some other bonus things) if you don't want to do the research for something. They streamline it so it's easier for you.
Quick ways to lose weight in the face
1-One thing you could try is facial and lymphatic massage to see if what you are perceiving as "fat" as just inflammation/lack of definition. I use a jade gua sha facial tool and my moisturizer/facial oil to daily massage. I also massage my lymph system in my face and neck (there are many YouTube tutorials out there written by lymphatic specialists).
2-The important thing is eating less calories than you burn Jogging is doing relatively little, but if you like doing it keep going, every bit helps, and fun helps building a habit If you don't want to/can't go to a gym you could try calisthenics, and do bodyweight exercises, like push-ups or squats, there's always an easier variation if you can't do the normal version yet, for example a push-up gets easier when you have your arms on a higher place like a table
3-Healthy weight loss helped my cheeks slim down moderately (still full because I still have a natural baby face for some reason) and completely eliminated of the excess droopy fat around/under my jawline & chin. I went from mildly obese to the low end of a healthy BMI (under 20.0). You'll experience notable visible improvement in your face if you can lose a significant amount of body fat off your frame and keep it off.
If you choose to pursue a weight loss journey just don't drop your calories too low too quickly or otherwise rush your weight loss. Individuals with laxer skin and/or a lot of weight to lose can end up with some loose pullable skin on the lower third of their face if they drop weight too rapidly. The more weight/body fat you plan to lose then the slower & steadier the weight loss needs to be to significantly reduce the likelihood this side effect in adults.
Also prioritize getting at least the minimum recommended amount of protein & calcium from healthy food for your sex/age/mass/composition daily while dieting to ensure your muscles & bones stay strong and healthy while eating in a caloric deficit-skeletal & muscle tissue are necessary for having a structured looking face with a defined shape. Supplementing
Healthy fat loss takes time so here are some things you can do in the mean time to slim the look of your face:
1. use cold-therapy (cooling gel masks) to bring down any excess swelling & calm any inflammation of the face. that makes it look puffier than it truly is
2. sleep with an extra pillow so your upper body is more propped up. This will promote better lymphatic drainage downward away from your face as you sleep so your face isn't retaining as much fluid in your face in the morning
3. buy two gua sha stones to use on both sides of your face in the morning. There's many tutorials on YouTube on how to properly do a gua sha massage on your face/neck to physically promote a greater amount of lymphatic drainage so your face can look a little slimmer than when you first got up.
4. drink a lot more still water/plain seltzer throughout the day, reduce your daily sodium intake by at least a couple hundred milligrams, do aerobic exercise a few times a week to sweat out extra salt and increase your daily potassium intake a little. Chronic dehydration/ underhydration, excess sodium intake and subpar potassium intake all set your body up to be in a constant state of water-retention (in spite of proper lymphatic drainage) which can cause your mid-face & lower-face to look more bloated than it is naturally almost constantly
5. Contour your cheeks and jaw lightly with a natural non-shimmery color. While most western guys seem to cringe at the idea of wearing any kind of makeup it would be foolish of me to not mention it because when used correctly it truly can immediately make almost anyone's face instantly look a bit more slender & attractive with minimal effort and without anyone noticing what is on your face (as long as your face isn't TOO big anyway.)IMO it is a temporary solution worth considering if you don't mind applying/wearing it and it will actually yield an increase in your confidence throughout the day. If you don't want to use makeup but want to try this out you can probably still get the general effect by strategically & carefully applying something like tinted moisturizer or tinted sunscreen to the areas.
6.Style yourself. Consult a barber if you have enough hair. Hair frames the face so certain haircuts/hairstyles can make your face look fuller or slimmer via optical illusion. Certain eyeglass shapes/sizes can have a similar effect. Taking time to style yourself in a new way often boosts people's confidence and self image even if they didn't get the exact result they wanted.
