Queen Elizabeth's Doctors 'Concerned For Her Majesty's Health; Recommended Medical Supervision

Buckingham Palace said the Queen is under medical observation at Balmoral after doctors were concerned about her health.

In a statement, he said: "After further examination this morning, the Queen's doctors expressed concern for Her Majesty's health and advised her to remain under medical supervision.

"The Queen still feels comfortable in Balmoral too."

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall were on their way to Balmoral, while the Duke of Cambridge was on his way.

The 96-year-old Queen withdrew from the Virtual Private Council on Wednesday, the day after Liz Truss was named prime minister at her home in the Scottish Highlands.

A palace spokesman said: “Following further examination this morning, the Queen’s doctors are concerned about Her Majesty’s health and have advised her to remain under medical supervision.

The Queen's close family, including the Prince of Wales, have been briefed as the latest announcement raises concerns for the King's health.

"The whole country will be deeply concerned by the lunchtime news from Buckingham Palace," said the UK's new Prime Minister Liz Truss. "My thoughts - and those of people in the UK - are with Her Majesty and her family at this time."

“After a busy day yesterday, His Highness has taken the doctors’ advice to rest this afternoon,” the palace said in a statement on Wednesday. "This means that the special council meeting due to take place tonight will be rescheduled."

The Queen has stepped back from most of her royal duties and instead placed more responsibility on her son and future king, Prince Charles. His grandson, Prince William, also took on more responsibilities and appeared as an elderly member of the royal family.

Mark Drakeford says news of the Queen's health prompted

"a day of wise reflection and concern".

Welsh Prime Minister Mark Drakeford said news of the Queen's deteriorating health would cause "a day of sober reflection and alarm for families in Wales".

At a press conference in Cardiff in response to the Prime Minister's announcement of the energy plan, Drakeford said: "I should start by reflecting on the news that Buckingham Palace released today - a day of sober thinking and caring for families in Wales.

“Of course, we want to show sympathy and understanding to the members of the royal family gathered in Balmoral.
