Hair color: How do I choose it?
Do you want to change your hair color without ending up in a disaster? You can choose the right color, whether you want a natural or bold look, or completely change your hair color. The perfect color is what matches your features and skin tone and makes your hair look great.
part1
1-Evaluate your skin tone
Selecting your skin tone is the key to making your hair match your skin tone, as choosing a color that isn't suitable for your skin tone can conflict with your complexion and features and make you look unnatural. Determine if you have cold or warm skin before choosing your hair color
Determine if you have warm skin:
We notice in people with warm skin that their skin color tends to be yellow, and their skin does not burn when tanning. Earth tones suit warm skin, such as brown, yellow, orange, and cream tones, and golden ornaments suit warm skin tones.
- Examine the veins (veins) on the inside of your arm, as those with warm skin tend to be greener.
- People with warm skin have dark eyes such as brown, black, or hazel, while their hair is black, brown, blond, or chestnut (reddish blond).
- Put a white sheet of paper next to your face after cleaning it. If you have warm skin, you will notice a yellow or golden color compared to the white sheet.
- Another way to determine if you have warm skin is to put a red or yellow paper next to your face after cleaning it, if you find the color of the paper matches your skin tone, this means that your skin is already warm
Determine if you have cold skin:
Cold-skinned people tend to have a pinkish or reddish-blue skin tone, and their skin burns when tanning or finds it difficult to tan. Blue, red, and violet shades go well with cold skin and silver jewelry.
- The veins on the armpits of cold-skinned people tend to be bluish.
- People with cold skin usually have light eyes, such as blue, green, or gray, while their hair is blond, black, or brown.
- Put a white sheet of paper next to your face after cleaning it, if you have cold skin, you will notice a bluish color on your skin.
- Another way to determine if you have warm skin is to put a silver or green sheet next to your face after cleaning it. If you find the color of the paper to match your skin tone, this means that your skin is already cold. Put a red or yellow piece of paper next to your face and compare the differences.
Check if your skin tone is fair:
The skin tone of some people tends to be moderate, it is neither cold nor warm, that is, their skin does not tend to be yellow or pink clearly, and the color of the veins is not outright green or outright blue. All colors are suitable for people with fair skin.

2-Choose the right color
1-Choose a color according to your skin tone:
Choose the appropriate color for your skin after determining its tone, if you are a fair-skinned person, all colors will match your complexion.
- Examples of ideal choices for people with warm skin: light brown, dark brown, chestnut, golden brown, dark red, dark golden, red locks, or golden blonde. Choose a color based on orange or gold, these colors will suit you best. Avoid blue, violet, or straw-based hair colors, which will contrast with your skin tone.
- Examples of ideal choices for people with cold skin include shiny black hair and brown with gray or blonde shades ranging from platinum to snow white. Avoid yellow, red, and bronze shades in your hair color, as they make your skin look dull. You can also choose bold and funky colors, such as bright red, cherry, blue, or mixed reds with violets.
2-Take your skin tone into account:
- Light hair color goes well with pale skin. If you have warm skin, try blond with brown, blond with blush, or honey, and for cold-skinned people, platinum, blond with silver, or whiteish blond is preferred.
- There are many options for medium tan skin tone. People with warm skin and medium skin can choose the blonde color intertwined with brown tones, golden caramel, or copper color. It is preferable for people with cold skin and medium skin to choose shades close to the color of straw, such as sand color, blond similar to wheat color, or brown close to the color of hazelnut.
- It goes with the skin tone of light brown earth tones, such as rich brown, while it goes with the cold skin red hair, or the color of cinnamon, and the warm skin matches the brownish-black color or the color of light coffee.
- It is suitable for cold skin and brown skin, dark black or dark coffee color, while warm skin and brown skin, the brown color overlapping with a little red or a little dark violet or a little dark blond goes with it
3-Keep your eye color in mind:
Eye color determines if the chosen hair color is right for you or not. Do you want to highlight the color of your eyes? Blue and green eyes go with the color of red, brown, or blond hair, and dark eyes, the opposite colors go with them.
4-Decide if you want a natural or bold look:
Your choices depend on how different you want your hair to be, do you want to maintain the natural look of your hair color or do you want a drastic change? Do you prefer a bold and funky color? Determine what is best for you and your lifestyle.
- If you want a natural look, you can lighten or darken your hair two or three shades from its natural color.
- Choose a suitable color, you may be very fond of red but does it really suit you? For example, if you like blue but have warm skin, consider another color that is bold.
5-Decide if you want permanent, semi-permanent, or temporary dye:
Use a temporary dye if you're not sure about the color chosen. Both permanent and semi-permanent are long-lasting if you want one that will last for a while.
- The permanent dye will not come off with washing and it will enable you to lighten the color of your hair, which requires bleaching agents. The effect of permanent dye is difficult to reverse and you will have to dye the roots of your hair the longer it lasts.
- The semi-permanent dye is removed by washing and is suitable for dyeing the strands, grading the color of the hair, adding some depth in the color, or hiding the white hair. Semi-permanent dye does not cause noticeable lightening of the hair.
- Temporary dye disappears after 25 to 30 washes and is suitable for introducing bright or vibrant colors into your hair, whether they are lighter or darker than your original hair color. It also enables you to change the tone of your hair without lightening its tone.
6-Do not make a drastic change while you are under the influence of strong emotions:
Determine the reason why you want this drastic change in your look before implementing it; Do you follow a new trend in fashion? Have you experienced a recent trauma, such as the loss of a family member or a breakup? Relying solely on your emotions to determine your new look is not a good idea.

Hair Coloring
1-Perform the trait test:
Tie a strand from the innermost layer of your hair so the difference isn't visible, and dye it to watch your hair react to the dye. In this way, you will get an idea of the final form of your hair before dyeing it completely, which may save you from a disastrous decision.
2-Wear a wig:
You can use a wig or a wig to test the hair color before actually dyeing your hair, as the wig will enable you to evaluate the hair color on your face without any permanent future damage. Make sure to use a high-quality wig so that the hair color you desire is clearly visible.
3-Go to the hair salon:
This is the perfect solution if you want to dye your hair for the first time or want to change your hair color to a bolder color. Hair experts help you choose the perfect color and make sure your hair doesn't end up in disaster.
Make sure to take a picture of the desired hair color if you have already specified, it so that there is no confusion in determining the color of the dye, as terms such as red, blonde, or brunette do not accurately describe the desired color, and you should take into account not to use terms such as straw color, caramel, or Honey or coffee unless the specialist understands its exact meaning.
4-Try dyeing some strands a little lighter first:
Dyeing strands scattered throughout your hair a shade lighter than your natural hair color is a good way to introduce some warm or cool tones into your hair. If you have warm skin, dye some strands with golden, copper, or golden brown, or if you have cold skin, dye some strands in wheat, honey, or straw and dark gray shades.
You can also dye some strands a shade darker than your original hair color if you want a small but significant change to the appearance of your hair.
